Nicole Ari Parker was born in New York City. Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and film actor. Her most famous role is was that of Teri her passionate lawyer Teri Jospehson in the Showtime TV series Soul Food. Her name is currently her maiden name of Nikki Kodjoe. Her acting talent was evident in her early years. In a Maryland high school contest gave her with the award for best actress. Her acting diploma was earned from the New York University after working for 'The Washington Ballet Company' as well as on stage. She received a lot of praise for her first major role in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love. It was followed by other films such as 'Boogie Nights Spark and Blue Streak. Her performance in the TV series Soul Food' was immensely well-received. She has also starred in TV shows such as Second Time Around" and Empire. Prior to that she was a part of numerous performances on stage. Parker, who is involved in politics, is married to actor-model Boris Kodjoe. They have two children.
Born to Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria until 7 years old, Contractor was well-versed in the world and an array of different cultures from a young age. She was educated in a boarding-school in London between 7 and 9 years. Her family later was relocated from London in Toronto, Canada. Contractor trained and eventually became a dancer of classical style in Toronto. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts in Toronto, a school of the arts focused on theatre and dance. Contractor was inspired to pursue acting seriously at age 16 after almost 10 year of dance. When she graduated from high-school, she was offered an all-inclusive tuition grant to the University of Toronto where she studied theatre with a double degree in psychology and Sociology. Contractor was offered the leading character in Pericles following her one year stay in University. She was a part of the audition for it at Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and was awarded. After two weeks of performances, she got positive reviews. The play was deemed the top production in Canada by the critics. She was offered the opportunity to enroll in the Stratford Conservatory, which is a private institution that accepts just eight men as well as four female students to study traditional theater. Contractor was eager to accept. Contractor got a confirmed place for the next season. She was also offered the part as Hermia.
